Anxiety is the #1 inhibitor of sexual pleasure.  Whether a person is experiencing a full-blown panic attack or just mild anxiety, that well-meaning, but interfering, mechanism of fear can painfully inhibit your sexual pleasure and satisfaction.

Whether you are single, married, heterosexual, polyamorous, or in a same sex marriage/partnership – you may be asking, “How can I have a healthier sex life?  How can I last longer? How can I have more satisfying orgasms?  How can I have better sex and intimacy with my partner?”

Being able to manage your inner state – your thoughts, feelings, and responses – most specifically, managing your anxiety –  you can dramatically improve the qualify of your sex life – as well as every other aspect of your life.

Reducing anxiety, releasing negative thoughts, and calming your nervous system are necessary in order to be receptive and responsive in sexual intimacy.

Use the quick and easy exercise below called “4-4-8 Breathing Technique” that, in just a few minutes,  can powerfully reduce anxiety and shift you to a calmer place inside.  As you eliminate anxiety, you will improve your health and stamina, and strengthen and relax your body, to be able to achieve better and more satisfying sex.

4-4-8 Breathing Technique

  1. Take a slow, deep breath for a count of 4.
  2.  Then hold it for a count of 4.
  3. Slowly breathe out for a count of 8.
  4. Repeat this 8-10 times.

The more you practice this technique, the more quickly your body will learn to relax.  Observe the changes in your body.  Your heart rate will slow, your muscles will relax, and your thinking will be more clear. Your circulation will improve.   Oxygen and nutrients will flow more easily through your body and to your brain, not only allowing you to relax but also giving you the power to re-direct your energy more constructively.   You will be less reactionary, more proactive, and more thoughtful in your responses.

You can increase your relaxation capacity by increasing the intervals  to 5-5-10 or 6-6-12.

You can use this technique at any time when you desire to go into a greater state of relaxation and stress reduction.
