Never underestimate the power of just being there for someone. Not doing anything, not fixing anything. Perhaps not even saying anything. Just being . . .
. . . present. Available. Listening.
I’ve had some loved ones going through some difficult times this past week. They had the courage to reach out on Facebook, without being drama queens, and folks from around the country reached back with virtual hugs and words of encouragement.
Sometimes we feel helpless to change circumstances for others – or in fact, we are truly limited – and the best we can do is to be on standby – to just be present.
And that can make all the difference.
Take a moment to think about someone in your life today that needs encouragement. Reach out and be present gently caring for them now.
So my friend, Tim, Jamison, sent me the following link in response to this blog. Hysterically true.
